📱SMARTPHONE SATURDAY 📱: A Grand Hyatt View

In 2014, I DJ'ed WAY too many weddings.  I DJ'ed/MC'ed approximately 40 weddings in a 52 week period.  There was a period where I DJ'ed 10 weddings in 8 weeks.  It was a CRAZY year.  My friends would say, "Oh, you're DJ'ing a 6 hour wedding...6 hours of work isn't bad."  Yeah, 6 hours of work wouldn't be bad, if that's what a 6 hour wedding was.  Usually, depending on where the wedding was, a 6 hour wedding would be at least 10 hours of work, not including the prep work.  Often, I would leave the house at 11am on a Saturday and arrive back at my house at 3am Sunday.  The work was REALLY difficult (think Bride-zillas), but there were definitely some perks...and one can be seen in the photo below.

This day in particular, I loaded all the equipment to the event room on the top floor at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Union Square.  Once I finished bringing the last load of equipment up and took a moment to take a breath, I turned my head and saw this view out the window…I dropped my bag.  WOW, what a view!!!  All I could do is grab my phone, the HTC One M7 at the time and start taking photos.  The sun was just starting to set, the clouds were scattered throughout the sky and the city below was bustling.  Needless to say, the scene was majestic.

Time passed as i finished setting up my DJ equipment.  When I plugged in the final cable and did sound check, the sun was still barely peaking over the horizon.  I had to grab one last picture with one of my favorite San Francisco icons, Sutro Tower.  And even through the not exactly clean glass, the view was still stunning.  Like I said before, DJ'ing weddings wasn't ever a cakewalk, but some of it's perks were amazing.
