Mural Monday: Warrior Surfer Mural

I was determined to get a weeks worth of photos in one area, the West Side of the City near Ocean Beach.  As I drove around the Outer Sunset looking for a parking spot, I drove down Noriega and did a double take when I saw this TOWERING, unique, image on a building.  I quickly parked and walked down the blog to get a better look at this 2 story surfer with a snake wrapped around his body!

This mural, by Zio Ziegler, is located between the entrances of 2 businesses, indosole, a shoe store that creates/sells shoes with soles made of recycled tires, and San Franpsycho, a retail location that sells t-shirts and apparel made locally.  May I just point out, both stores are VERY San Francisco!

Of course, the mural's intricate design jumped out at me and caught my eye.  However, once it caught my eye, the one aspect of this mural that kept my eyes locked was it's form factor.  Many murals are beautiful pieces of artwork that are painted on a wall or building.  This surfer LIVES in this space.  He almost looks like a model, posing so a painter can catch his image on canvas.  The surfer and the snake are intertwined, not just with each other, but with the structure which they are displayed upon.  Rather than the mural being painted to fit the building, its almost as if the building was designed and constructed for the surfer and the snake.
