I could easily go into a history lesson about Willie Mays, the Man, the Player.  I could tell you how he is arguably the best baseball player EVER in the history of the MLB.  I could go into how, if he didn't serve in the army for 2 years during his prime, his numbers would be even more astronomical.  I could also give you details about his playing history like how he would probably have the record for most home runs ever if he didn't have to play in an early version of Candlestick Park that caused left field (where he would pull the ball and hit many home runs) to have a huge amount of wind blowing in because of its design (although, he was so good, he adjusted his swing to hit more balls towards center and right field).

Well, instead of going more into the known, how about I tell you how he is one of my favorite players, even though I never got to see him play.  I used to HATE reading in school (I'm not too much of a fan as an adult).  But there's one book that I used to take out of the school library any chance I could...the Biography of Willie Mays.  To this day, I can still envision the small, hardback book with the tan cover and his smiling face on the front.

I always say, if I had a time machine, I would want to do 3 things for sure...#1, tell 2pac to wear his bullet proof vest on September 7, 1996, #2, see Martin Luther King Jr. give a speech in person, and #3, see sit in the stands at a baseball game to watch a Giants game with Willie Mays in center field.  All I have to go off of are stories and the very few video clips available.  The day that we lose this legend, I already know, I will shed tears.  But, until them, while we have him here, I will STAND AND APPLAUD him any chance I get!
