Taking a photo from Alcatraz gives me such mixed feelings. Walking out from the building, you are greeted by a breathtaking view of our glorious city. But, if you take a moment to think about the history of where you are standing, you realize that, as a prisoner, such a beautiful city is in an eyeshot. Yet, this wonderful view is a representation of a freedom that is out of your reach. If you were in a prisoner's shoes back when Alcatraz was an active prison and you are looking at this view, how beautiful is it really?
